Waltz of oblivion - Apollon Kouskoumvekakis

In this CD Apollon Kouskoumvekakis highlights his talent as a composer unfolding every crumple of his musical personality. He composes orchestral pieces as well as songs which are composed exceptionally by the Athens Chamber Orchestra with him as a conductor and are interlarded with excellent short guitarist intermezzi. They all however have a genuine musicality and a spontaneous melodiousness but also a deep sensitivity, which, at least in our opinion, comes from the French impressionist composers and passes through the most lyrical Greek originators before they are manifested in his seductive personal way. It is a sounding completely sincere with itself and its receivers and truly tender, that is why it is so essential, with a principal virtue, maybe, the fact that it has come out of the mixing of numerous elements and it is not based on the easy, superficial sensationalism of one and only (element), no matter how good this is. We would expect nothing more and nothing less from a musician for whom the hard work and his ethos do not follow his talent but they are identical with it.....

In a close circle- Apollon Kouskoumvekakis - Irene Toumpaki

......The November of her eyes is one of the three CDs I have picked for 2014. They all have one common characteristic: they are composer’s CDs. Meaning, that they are creations having as a junctional, and definite characteristic: the musical identity, the unstrained melodiousness, the composing originality but also the diligent orchestration..... The raw material is here, the composing inspiration and the talent are here too and along with their whirl both the lyricism as well as the popularity can swirl.

.....The November of her eyes is a fresh look on the Chatzidakis tradition.....

FAIRYTALE, Apollon Kouskoumvekakis-Irene Toumpaki

......The flexible melodies of Apollon, more or less scholar as far as the temperament is concerned, have got their roots in the time when Manos Chatzidakis had set the basis using new and purely artistic terms, changing this way the status quo of the Greek songs. In the sense that, although in their origin they are obviously westernised (a fact that is being enhanced also by the orchestration, with the bright timbres of the instruments coming from the symphony orchestra), the way that they are made to be put in action by their creator gave me the impression that the question against which he has actively put himself is, in what sense we can have today a new musical "Greekness", which is not necessarily based on the Aegean blue of Elytis, the way it used to be during the ‘60s, rather than taking into account all that has happened in between. Despite the externally driven hard times, I wish with all my heart his CD to succed in meeting its potential listeners. For one reason only: because it is worth it. Have a pleasant listening!

Drops of moments / Apollon Kouskoumvekakis - Maria Spyratou

It is comforting in today antiromantic time, some, like Apollon Kouskoumvekakis, to insist romantic. Songs and instrumental compositions colored with tenderness, kindness and respect both in music and its receiver.

November of her eyes - Αpollon Kouskoumvekakis,Kleoniki Demiri

.....The November of her eyes is the music of the melancholic heroes who sing for their lost time, doomed to a perpetual quest, knowing that no great truth will they condescend to find
